The pair brought the match on even-keel after initially trailing 2-3. But the Korean pair of Sugyong Pak and Suyog Cha outplayed the Indian duo in the decider, winning the match 7-11, 11-8, 7-11, 11-8, 11-9, 5-11, 11-2 in a 60-minute battle.
The Indian women’s pair became the third Indian duo to win a medal at the Games after a men’s team bronze in 2018 Asian Games, followed by a mixed doubles bronze (Sharath Kamal/Manika Batra) in 2018. With this, the Indian table tennis contingent ended their campaign with a single medal, that too a historic one.
