Indian men's team stormed into the semifinals of the ongoing Asian Table Tennis Championships 2023 in Pyeongchang, the Republic of Korea, on Monday, September 4. By booking their berths in the last four, the Indian table tennis stars have confirmed a medal for India as both losing semi-finalists will be awarded bronze medals in the competition. On the flip side, the women's team got knocked out of the tournament. 

Ranked third, the men's team consisting veteran Sharath Kamal, Harmeet Desai and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran took down Singapore and registered a 3-0 triumph to cruise to the next round. On the other hand, the women's team, which consisted of Manika Batra, Ayhika Mukherjee and Sutirtha Mukherjee lost the match to Japan 0-3 and crashed out. 

Speaking of the men's quarterfinal Sharath Kamal defeated Singapore's  Izaac Quek of Singapore 3-2. It was followed by Sathiyan Gnanasekaran's  3-0 win over Pang Yew En Koen. Later, Harmeet Desai recorded a 3-0 win over  Clarence Chew Zhe Yu and advanced ahead. 

In the semifinals of the 26th edition of the  Asian Table Tennis Championships, the Indians will lock horns with Chinese Taipei on Wednesday, September 6 to book spot in the finale. The ongoing event is also a qualification tournament for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The winners of men's and women's team events, along with mixed doubles' events will secure their berth for the summer 2024 games.
