Aston Martin F1 team will see a drivers’ lineup of Fernando Alonso and reserve driver  Felipe Drugovich for the 2023 season-opener Bahrain GP. The Brazilian will be replacing the Canadian driver Lance Stroll, who sustained injuries in a cycling accident in Spain ahead of the 2023 season.

The Aston Martin team released a statement on social media addressing Stroll’s appearance for Bahrain GP. The statement spoke about how Stroll hasn’t recovered from his injuries and hence will remain out of the race.

The statement said, “The team will continue to give Lance every chance to race, pending recovery from his injury. Should he not be fit to compete, then Felipe will drive the AMR23 alongside Fernando.”

After the news broke regarding the accident, Stroll also spoke about the incident and stated that he is fully motivated to soon make a return from the setback. He said "I've had an unfortunate accident whilst training on my bike in preparation for the season. I am determined to get back in the car and I am excited about the season ahead with the team. I am motivated to bounce back from this setback as quickly as possible."

Aston Martin Formula 1 Team Principal Mike Krack made a big revelation regarding the Stroll injury and hinted about the possibility of a shock comeback for Sebastian Vettel. The German driver retired from Grand Prix racing at the end of 2022 after a 16-year career.

"I have had a couple of phone calls with Sebastian," Krack said when asked by media if he had spoken with the four-time champion."But this has been [the case] also last year and will continue in the future." But later said, "I mean, this is very, very hypothetical."
