Australia all-rounder Cameron Green has emerged as a hot favourite for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises. Green has registered his name for the IPL 2023 Mini Auction and all ten franchises are expected to go big for the Australia all-rounder. The 23-year-old has also expressed excitement as he is set to be a part of the world’s biggest T20 league.

Meanwhile, Australia white-ball coach Andrew McDonald is worried about Green’s workload leading into the IPL 2023. McDonald has expressed his reservations about Green playing in the two-month-long T20 league, saying the all-rounder already has a lot of cricket on his plate. The Aussie coach also said that a decision on Green’s availability will be taken around mid-March.

"His (Green) overall load in the next 12 months of cricket, is it a concern? Yeah, I think it's a concern for every player," McDonald was quoted as saying by the Australian Associated Press (AAP). “We've spoken about it several times. it's hypothetical to see how he's feeling come the end of March. He's got a lot of cricket before the IPL and I'm sure his decision won't be made right now; it will be made later on down the track leading into the IPL.

"You never know what your body is going to feel like in three months' time on the back of nine Test matches plus some white-ball cricket of the back end of that Indian series," he added.

Notably, IPL 2023 is set to be played in March-June next year. The T20 league will be held between the Border Gavaskar Trophy (February-March) in India and the Ashes (June-July) in England. Green is a key player for Australia in all three formats and hence his services will be required in both the aforementioned series.
