Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has picked his four possible semi-finalists for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023. Sehwag was speaking at a panel with Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan, BCCI secretary Jay Shah and ICC CEO Geoff Aldridge in Mumbai where the World Cup schedule was announced.

After the fixture list for the marquee tournament was released, a question and answer session took place where Sehwag was asked to pick his four semi-final teams for the World Cup. Reacting to this, the former India international named five-time champs  Australia, defending champions  England, 1992 winners  Pakistan and hosts  India as his picks.

Later when Muttiah Muralitharan was asked the same questions, the star off-spinner responded by also picking  India,  Australia,  England and  Pakistan as his possible four contenders. Reacting to this comment,  Sehwag quickly jumped and jokingly asked him to lie a bit and also Sri Lanka. He said, " At least you can lie a bit and add Sri Lanka."

Further, the pair were also asked to name their top batters and bowlers in the tournament where  Sehwag selected the Indian captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Australian opener David Warner as his top three players with bat. While Murli also picked Virat Kohli but later he selected Pakistan captain Babar Azam and England star Joe Root.
