Australian Cricketers' Association Chief Todd Greenberg addressed the new David Warner Saga and stated that the top-order batter had no choice but withdraw his leadership ban appeal. Greenberg also condemned CA and Warner for "losing control" and "lacking common sense".

Four years ago, David Warner along with Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft were found accused of tampering the ball during a Test match against South Africa. As one of the punishments, Warner and Smith were put on a lifetime ban from the captaincy of the team. Hence, Warner appealed to overturn this decision which was brought into a public hearing.

Warner deemed this practice as a ‘public lynching’ when withdrew his appeal with an 800-word letter on his social media platform. Taking about the whole situation, Greenberg felt that the CA lost control after the review was made public. He further expressed confusion about how both parties agreed on this decision and the whole process lacked ‘common sense’.

"The moment Cricket Australia outsourced the review, in my view, they lost control of that process," Greenberg told SEN sports radio. "Why the panel decided the issue needed to be a public hearing after both CA and David agreed the matter be held privately is beyond me, and I think lacks a real level of common sense."

Greenberg further spoke on how the process changed into something completely different from the one Warner had agreed. He said, “The process became a long way removed from the one David agreed to participate in, that's why I don't think David had much choice to do what he did."

Australian Cricketers' Association Chief also stated that Cricket Australia lost a massive opportunity to use Warner's experience as a guiding force for the new generation of players. He said, "People make mistakes through their careers and other people will lay in judgement of those mistakes."

“Ultimately, you're not judged by not so much the mistakes but how you respond from it. Our players deserve enormous credit for coming back the way they have. I'm talking about a whole pile of them, not just Dave here. Steve Smith is captaining his country in this Test match,” he further continued.
