The 1st T20I of the five-match T20I series between India and South Africa is underway at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. India posted a mammoth 211/4 in their 20 overs after being put in to bat first. However, they got a befitting reply from South Africa batters as the Proteas aggregated 61 runs in their first six overs. Even with wickets falling, South Africa kept the tempo up.

After losing three wickets, Rassie van der Dussen and David Miller took the onus on themselves to score runs at a quick rate. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant was trying all his bowlers to break the partnership. Pant brought back Avesh Khan into the attack to bowl the 14th over. The pacer put a hold to the run flow as he bowled a couple of dot balls.

Van der Dussen on the other end was trying to break free. While he could not break the shackles, his bat got broken into two halves. On the third delivery of his over, Avesh Khan fired an off-side yorker to which van der Dussen tried to squeeze for a single. However, with the bat hitting the turf really hard, it got broken into two halves.

Dussen finishes with a boundary!

Now coming to the match, it was a high-scoring encounter with batters of both teams going bonkers. While India posted 211/4, South Africa chased it down with five balls to spare. David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen played blinders for their team as the duo put together 121 runs (in 63 balls) for the 4th wicket. While van der Dussen scored an unbeaten 75 off just 46 balls, David Miller scored 64* off 31.

The duo did not allow any of the Indian bowlers to dominate them throughout the innings. Both players hit 11 boundaries and ten sixes together in their innings. Van der Dussen finished it in style, with a boundary off Yuzvendra Chahal on the first ball of the 20th over.
