The Men in Blue clinched their eighth Asia Cup title win on Sunday after winning the final by 10 wickets on Sunday. Former all-rounder Irfan Pathan fired a subtle bullet at Pakistan fans and experts after the game. The Indian team was in the driver’s seat right from the start as they picked the first Lankan wicket in the first over while bowling in the first innings. The Lankans collapsed like a pack of cards and were reduced to a score of 12/6.

A few boundaries by Kusal Mendis helped them, but they were bundled out eventually for a score of just 50 runs. Mohammed Siraj was the hero, ending with figures of 6/21. In response, Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill opened the innings for India and took on the Lankan bowling attack from the start. India chased the target and sealed the title in the seventh over. It was also the biggest win for India in ODI history in terms of balls remaining (263).
Irfan Pathan wrote on twitter,”Padosi abhi bhi Awaz Karne ki Koshish Kar rahe hai, Lekin Colombo Tak unki Awaaz pahoch nahi rahi hai. #Sunday”. (The neighbours are still trying to make noise, but it is not reaching till Colombo.)
This could be in response to Shoaib Akhtar who had made various comments against India after India’s loss to Bangladesh, despite Pakistan being knocked out a day before. He had labelled India’s loss as ‘embarrassing’ and had said: "Finally, some relief for Pakistan fans, including me, that India has lost the game."
Irfan Pathan acknowledges efforts by ground staff
Irfan Pathan, who was at the venue, also took a picture with the ground staff and appreciated their efforts throughout the tournament and ensured that the tournament was conducted smoothly despite the challenges posed by the monsoon season. The ground staff worked round the clock to prepare the pitches and cover the grounds whenever there was rain or bad light.
