Pakistan cricket team’s six-wicket drubbing at the hands of India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai hasn’t gone well among the fans and cricket enthusiast alike. On Sunday, February 23, Pakistan were handed their second consecutive defeat in the marquee tournament, thus closing their hopes of semi-finals appearance.
Soon after, former Pakistan cricketers, who were part of a show, also launched a scathing attack at the key players, who were expected to perform, but failed to get to the mark. Among them, former Pakistan speedster and legend Shoaib Akhtar also could not hold back his emotions as he labelled Babar Azam as “fraud”. Along with him, Mohammed Hafeez also blunty spoke of dropping the star batter.

Speaking on a show titled ‘Game On Hai’ Shoaib Akhtar remarked, "We always compare Babar Azam to Virat Kohli. Now tell me, who is the hero of Virat Kohli? Sachin Tendulkar has scored 100 centuries, and Virat is chasing his legacy." “Who is Babar Azam's hero? Tuk tuk (Without naming any cricketer). You have picked the wrong heroes. Your thought process is wrong. You were a fraud from the beginning. I would not even wish to talk about the Pakistan cricket team. I am only doing this because I am getting paid,” Akhtar further added.

In the same show, Akhtar was left in awe of Indian star batter Virat Kohli, who scored his 51st ODI hundred and 82nd overall in international cricket. “We have seen this in the past. When you tell Virat Kohli that he has to play against Pakistan, he will score a century. Hats off to him, he’s like a superstar! He’s a white ball run chaser! Modern-day great! No doubt about him. I’m very happy for him. He deserves all the praise,” the former pacer said.
