India is all set to take on West Indies during a multi-format series commencing on July 12 and will go on till August 13, 2023. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had already announced India’s squad for Test matches and ODI games.  Meanwhile, the announcement of the 15-men contingent came out on July 5, Wednesday, and the absence of some promising names from it surely broke many hearts.

One name that was keeping the hopes high was Kolkata Knight Riders’ star Nitish Rana. Needless to say, the announcement left Rana disheartened and he took to social media to share a cryptic post.  Rajasthan Royals star Yashasvi Jaiswal is one of the names who made it to the Hardik Pandya-led squad.

However, the exclusion of some highly expected names, including the likes of Rinku Singh, Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad has raised questions. Though KKR’s emerging powerhouse Rinku Singh hasn’t made any comment on his snub yet, his teammate, who was expecting his name in the squad, took to social media to express his disappointment.

Nitish Rana, who led his team in the absence of Shreyas Iyer, tweeted a cryptic quote on social media. The quote that the Delhi-born cricketer shared read, "Bad days build better days.” The 29-year-old cricketer represented India in one ODI and two T20Is, and last wore India’s jersey in July 2021 against Sri Lanka.

The five-match T20I series will begin from August 3 to August 13, and while the opening game is slated in Trinidad, the next two are to take place in Guyana. However, both teams will be travelling to Florida for the last two games of the series.

Notably, Rana scored 413 runs in 14 matches in the latest season of the Indian Premier League. KKR’s stand-in captain could manage to score only nine and six runs in the two T20I matches he played for India, and his score in the ODI match was seven runs.
