In a big update from the sport of badminton, the Badminton World Tour Finals tournament has been shifted from China to Thailand. The Tour Finals which was set to be held in Guanghou, has been shifted to Bangkok now.

This decision was confirmed by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) on Tuesday (November 15). This decision comes after seeing the COVID-19 situation in the Chinese country. Also, the event will now take place a week earlier, starting from December 7 to 11, 2022.

“BWF in consultation with the Chinese Badminton Association (CBA) agreed to relocate the HSBC BWF World Tour Finals 2022 due to the various challenges brought about by the current pandemic situation”, said the BWF statement.

The relocated Badminton World Tour Finals will now be played at the Nimibutr Arena in Bangkok. The 5-day tournament commences a week earlier seeing the availability of the stadium and a consequence of the change in location.
