The Badminton Association of India (BAI) on Tuesday, 9th January announced a 20-member squad for the upcoming Badminton Asia Team Championships. The tournament is scheduled to be played from 13th to 18th February at Malaysia’s Shah Alam.

While the Indian men’s team will be spearheaded by the Asian Games bronze medallist HS Prannoy, PV Sindhu will lead the women’s side at the six-day tournament in Malaysia. Moreover, the men’s team consists of recent recipient of the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, the Indian men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, along with Kidambi Srikanth, Lakshya Sen among others.

On the other hand, apart from two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, Tressa Jolly, Gayatri Gopichand, Ashwini Ponnappa are some prominent names featuring in the women’s squad.

Moreover, while the men’s team will eye a top-place finish after previously winning two bronze medals in 2016 and 2020 respectively, the women’s team is yet to finish on the podium.

Men’s Team: H Prannoy, Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, Chirag Sen, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty, Dhruv Kapila, MR Arjun, Suraj Goala, Pruthvi Roy.

Women’s Team: PV Sindhu, Anmol Kharb, Tanvi Sharma, Ashmita Chaliha, Tressa Jolly, Gayatri Gopichand, Ashwini Ponnappa, Tanisha Crasto, Priya Devi Konjengbam, Shruti Mishra.
