As the WTC 2021 final kicked off in Southampton on Saturday, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer was full of praise for Indian batsmen who fought valiantly in challenging conditions as they ended the day at 146/3. The 43-year-old was hugely impressed with the efforts of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill batting at top of the order and applauded the duo for being proactive and showing positive intent.

Be like Indian police of Bollywood movies: Jaffer

The Punjab Kings batting coach gave a hilarious anecdote to explain how the batsmen should play in these overcast conditions in England. In a video on his YouTube channel, Jaffer said, "We should be like Indian Police from old Bollywood movies. Just like they were famous for coming late always, similarly the batsmen need to play the ball late in these conditions."

He also went on to explain why the mindset of batsmen should be like Ghajini. "It is very important to forget the previous delivery because in England conditions, there will be play and miss on numerous occasions for the batsmen," said Jaffer. The 43-year-old emphasized on the fact that it is important for batsmen to forget what happened previous and shift the focus on the next delivery instead.

India are on top going to Day 3: Jaffer

Wasim Jaffer admitted that the previous day went in India's favour as the Kiwis would have wanted to take at least 4-5 wickets. He also went on to add that the partnership between Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli is going to be the key for India. "If India went on to score 275-300 runs, the chances of winning for them will increase as there will be some assistance for spinners." Jaffer explained that the rough created by the Kiwi pacers will help Ashwin and Jadeja, especially with India set to bowl in second and fourth innings.
