The Board of Control for Cricket and India has announced the annual contract list for the players of the national team for year 2020-21. Notably, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma have retained their A+ category which gives a sum of 7 crore to each player per year in the bracket.

New faces in BCCI’s central contract

While there were a few surprises in the list, there were certainly no questions over the inclusion of Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj. The duo made vital contributions in India’s historic series win over Australia Down Under. Both Gill and Siraj also featured in the Tests against England and have become a major part of India’s red-ball cricket side. They have been included in ‘Grade C’ category alongside other players like Kuldeep Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Deepak Chahar, Hanuma Vihari, Axar Patel, Shreyas Iyer, Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar.

Setback for four Indian cricketers

The BCCI contract came out to be a major setback for four Indian internationals. The spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav will face a pay-cut as they have been relegated to ‘Grade C’ category. On the other hand, batsmen Manish Pandey and Kedar Jadhav have been excluded from the list as they have not been awarded central contracts for this season.
