BCCI considering expanding Team India’s coaching staff: Reports
As of till date, India’s coaching staff consists of Morne Morkel (bowling coach), Abhishek Nayar (assistant coach), Ryan ten Doeschate (assistant coach) and T Dilip (fielding coach) along with Gautam Gambhir. According to a report published by Cricbuzz, the BCCI is contemplating adding to the men’s team’s coaching staff that is led by head coach Gautam Gambhir, specially a batting coach. The new possible expansion of the support staff was mentioned during BCCI’s reiew meeting on 11 January that was attended by captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar besides Gambhir in which the board discussed India’s forgettable tour of Australia as well as the way forward.
This step comes after recent rut of losses in Test cricket. However, the BCCI did not appoint any batting coach as the presence of former India opener was said to help in that regard. Moreover, the BCCI also has decided of taking any decisive action against Gambhir despite the results not going in favour of India and is set to “re-evaluate” his job after the Champions Trophy 2025 campaign.
