India were successful in levelling the five-match Test series against England with a thrilling six-run win on day five of the fifth Test at the Oval, London on August 4. It was Mohammed Siraj who turned the match around in favour of India on the final day with a five-wicket haul. The star fast bowler registered figures of 5/104 as England were bowled out for 367 runs while chasing a target of 374.
Mohammed Siraj ended up taking nine wickets in the Oval Test including four wickets in the first innings and five wickets in the second innings. He was awarded Player of the Match for game changing performance and has been getting a lot of praise from the cricketing fraternity. However, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) made a big blunder while sharing an appreciation post for the star pacer on their official Instagram handle.
BCCI tags wrong Mohammed Siraj on Instagram
Soon after Mohammed Siraj received Player of the match awards, BCCI shared a post on their official Instagram handle, @indiancricketteam. “For his relentless bowling display and scalping nine wickets, Mohd. Siraj bags the Player of the Match award in the 5th Test,” BCCI captioned the post. However, instead of tagging Siraj’s official Instagram account, the BCCI tagged some other account with the same name.”
After the post was shared, the fans didn’t take much time in noticing that a wrong account was tagged. One user wrote “Sir id check please” while the other user wrote “Ye kis siraj ko mention kar diya.” Soon after realising their mistake, the BCCI removed the tagged account and mentioned Mohammed Siraj’s Instagram handle in the caption.a
