Sunil Chhetri-led Indian football team qualified for a second successive AFC Asian Cup after Palestine's 4-0 win over the Philippines in the AFC Cup qualification rounds on Tuesday. While India later managed to beat Hong Kong on Tuesday, Palestine's win had cleared the way for both the teams to qualify for AFC Asian Cup 2023.

Following India's qualification to AFC Asian Cup, wishes started pouring in for the Indian team from all walks of the society and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly too joined the league and posted a congratulatory message on Twitter. Sourav Ganguly wrote, "Great work by the Indian Football team on qualifying for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup! Led by the captain @SunilChhetri, the team has shown great spirit and no better place to do this than the Mecca of Football, good support by the fans throughout."

However, BCCI President made a huge error this time as he tagged the wrong Sunil Chhetri on Twitter. Sourav Ganguly tagged Chhetri's namesake from Nepal who himself highlighted the error by commenting on Sourav Ganguly's post on Twitter. "Hi Sourav, this is Sunil from Nepal, not your captain Sunil Chhetri. Please correct your mention for your captain," he tweeted.

The BCCI President later made a correction and his post has since then been deleted. As far as the Blue Tigers are concerned, they registered their biggest win under coach Igor Stimac when they defeated Hong Kong 4-0. They eventually finished as Group D toppers.
