The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will reportedly instruct ICC to not put the Indian cricket team in the same group with Pakistan in their future events after the dastardly Pahalgam terror attack a couple of days ago in the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir. Apart from that, the BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla categorically stated that India will not play against Pakistan in bilateral series going forward despite the already established similar stand of the Government of India in this regard.

Notably, the BCCI refused to send the Indian cricket team to Pakistan to play the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and as per the hybrid model, the ICC allowed the India matches in the tournament to happen in Dubai, the UAE. During the coveted tournament, the Pakistan cricket team travelled to the middle eastern country to play versus India in the group stage match, which they ended up losing, and eventually, the trophy went the way of the Indian cricket team.

Deeply shocked and anguished by the tragic loss of innocent lives in the gruesome terror attack at Pahalgam: Devajit Saikia

While the ICC tournament matches between India and Pakistan are set to become a thing of the past, as per the report from Cricket Addictor, the potential of bilateral series happening in the near future is going out of the window as well. Rajeev Shukla was quoted as saying in this regard, “We are with the victims and we condemn it. Whatever our government will say, we will do. We don't play with Pakistan in bilateral series because of the government stand. And we will not play with Pakistan in bilaterals going forward. But when it comes to ICC event we play due to ICC engagement. ICC is also aware whatever is happening they will to it.”

Devajit Saikia, the secretary of the BCCI, send his condolences over the Pahalgam terror attack, which took lives of 26 people and leaving multiple injured, “The cricketing community is deeply shocked and anguished by the tragic loss of innocent lives in the gruesome terror attack at Pahalgam yesterday. On behalf of the BCCI, while condemning this ghastly and cowardly act with strongest possible words, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the departed souls. In sharing their pain and grief, we stand hand in hand at this hour of tragedy.”

It was during the match 41st of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI), the captains of both teams offered their condolences and strongly condemned the attack while wearing black armbands as mark of respect along with other players, match officials, commentators, and support staff.
