With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 nearing its business end, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is hoping to pay tribute to the armed forces after the success of Operation Sindoor. It is to be noted that India launched Operation Sindoor on the midnight of May 7, after the horrific terror attack in the Kashmir valley on 22 April 2025.
The operation involved precision air and missile strikes, which targeted nine-terror-linked sites in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). However, despite a planned response by the Indian armed forces, the escalating cross-border tensions also led to the suspension of IPL 2025, which later resumed after a week on May 17.

However, the tournament resumed successfully, the apex Indian cricket board, BCCI is planning to pay a special tribute to the armed forces. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia revealed that the Indian cricket governing body has invited the Chief of the Defense Staff as well the Chief of the army, navy, and air staff.
“The Board salutes the bravery, courage, and selfless service of our armed forces, whose heroic efforts under Operation Sindoor continue to protect and inspire the nation. As a tribute, we have decided to dedicate the closing ceremony to the armed forces,” the BCCI Secretary was quoted as saying by Times Now. Moreover, reports have also claimed that the event will also feature performance by the military band
IPL 2025 playoffs to commence from May 29; final set to be played on June 3 in Ahmedabad
With the IPL 2025 coming to its last stage, the playoffs are set to begin from May 29 with the Punjab Kings taking either of Gujarat Titans or Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in New Chandigarh. On the following day, the former champions, Mumbai Indians will face either of Gujarat Titans or Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Eliminator at the same venue.
The action will then move to Ahmedabad, where the Narendra Modi Stadium will host the Qualifier 2 and the final of IPL 2025 on June 1 and June 3 respectively.
