Indian bowling legend Jhulan Goswami turned 40 today, and wishes have continued pouring in from all walks of society for one of the most decorative Indian women cricketers. The 40-year-old retired from international cricket earlier this year, playing her last one-day international at iconic Lord's against England.
The right-arm fast-medium pacer claimed 255 wickets in 204 ODI matches, won the ICC Women's Player of the Year award in 2007, and became the number one ICC Women's bowler in January 2016.
While many from the Indian cricket fraternity extend wishes to the former Indian pacer, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, essaying Goswami's character in the latter's biopic Chakda Xpress, penned a heartfelt birthday wish for the Indian cricketer.
Taking to her Instagram story, Anushka wrote, "Happy Birthday, Chamo! It's been such a privileged to know you. You are a generation-defining cricketer who has levelled the playing field for women cricketers in India. More power to you."
Notably, the actress is leaving no stone unturned in prepping for the role and reportedly started shooting for the last leg of the film. 'Chakda Xpress' marks the comeback of Anushka Sharma after her last release, Zero in 2018, with Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. Speaking of the birthday girl, Goswami made her debut in international cricket in January 2002 and produced a phenomenal bowling performance in her debut match by picking up two wickets and conceding just 15 runs against a strong England side.
