Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, the former’s star batter Nicholas Pooran met a fan whose head was left bloodied by the southpaw’s maximum against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the same venue on April 12. In the contest against Gujarat, the Caribbean batter played a spectacular knock of 61 off 34 and played an instrumental role in Lucknow’s six-wicket win. His innings was studded with a four and seven maximums. One of his sixes went on to hit a spectator who was relishing the game between the two sides.
Prior to the fixture against DC, Pooran met the fan during a practice session and handed him a signed cap. Pooran also asked him "All is well?" The fan replied with a thumbs-up sign. Asked about his experience with the 29-year-old star batter, the fan remarked, "It feels great. Nicholas Pooran got a phone call scheduled and then I came here and met him. He asked me, 'How are you doing?' I will come to watch the game between LSG and Delhi Capitals. Even if I get struck on my head again, there's nothing to worry about. Just Lucknow should keep winning." The LSG team posted the video of their interaction on X and wrote a caption, “Bas apni Lucknow ki team jeetti rehni chahiye”
LSG post 159/6 against DC
In the encounter between LSG and DC in Lucknow, the latter’s captain Axar Patel emerged victorious and elected to bowl first. Aiden Markram delivered another fine start to Super Giants, notching up 52 off just 33. Along with his opening ally Mitchell Marsh, he built an 87-run stand off just 60 balls. However, the middle-order failed to keep the momentum going as LSG finished on 159 runs for the loss of six wickets with Ayush Badoni hitting 36 off 21 balls.
LSG have played four matches at their home ground Ekana Cricket Stadium in this tournament and have won a couple of games and lost the remaining two. In this game, they will look to beat DC and avenge their defeat from the Axar Patel-led side that came in Visakhapatnam on March 24.
