Days after a young badminton collapsed on the court in Hyderabad, another tragic incident took over the internet on Saturday, August 2. A 22-year-old cricketer from Bengal, Priyajit Ghosh tragically passed away after suffering sudden cardiac arrest during a gym session. However, the incident is set to have occurred on Friday (August 1), but it came into limelight on Saturday.
The youngster, who had dreams of representing his state team in Ranji Trophy and even hoped to play for India at some point of time, suffered a heart attack on Friday morning in Bolpur, which is located in the Birbhum district. As per the reports, Priyajit went to the gym in the Mission Compound area, but suddenly collapsed while sweating during his workout.

While the untimely death not only left his family, friends and dear ones mourning, the Bengal Pro T20 League handle also took to X to confirm the youngster’s demise. In a post on X, they expressed their grieve writing, “Gone too soon, but never forgotten. We at Bengal ProT20 League deeply mourn the untimely passing of Priyajit Ghosh. May his soul rest in peace. �� ️”
The 22-year-old began playing cricket at the district level, where he finished as the highest run-getter in Inter-District Under-16 cricket tournament 2018-19, organised by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). However, not much is known of his other accolades, but this comes as a shock with several players advocating fitness as key to their long life.
