Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) attempt to make their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title celebration memorable went terribly wrong on June 4, when the crowd outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium couldn’t be controlled by the Bengaluru authorities. The celebration at the venue took a horrendous turn as a stampede occurred and claimed 11 lives. Following the incident, RCB and Karnataka Government are facing constant criticism for not conducting the event with precise planning. Former players Kapil Dev and Gautam Gambhir have come up with the views that lives are more important than any victory celebration.

In the latest development, Deccan Herald has come up with a report that claim that the RCB management and the state government were advised not to conduct any kind of celebration on June 4 as fans were expected to be high on emotions that day. The report also asserted that the RCB management were urged to celebrate their triumph on June 8. "We tried to discourage the government as well as the RCB franchise from Tuesday night against having any celebrations on Wednesday. We told them it would be ill-advised and recommended holding the event next Sunday when emotions would have cooled down. We told them not to take out any procession, but to hold it in one place in an organised manner. Bring the players to the stadium and finish it there," the report quoted a senior police official as saying.

RCB argued that their overseas player won’t be available on June 8

The report also asserted that RCB argued back and said that their overseas players won’t be available with them by June 8. “Their argument was that the players, especially the foreigners, would leave today or tomorrow,” said the police official.

He also further added, "Naturally, the government would want to take mileage out of it. If the government had refused, that would have led to another kind of chaos." After the tragic incident, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has ordered a magisterial enquiry into the matter.
