Businessman Vijay Mallya, who used to own the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore, met RCB Hall of Fame inductee, Chris Gayle, on Wednesday and shared the picture from their meeting in London.

Vijay Mallya took to Twitter on Wednesday to share a picture with West Indies cricket star Chris Gayle.

"Great to catch up with my good friend Christopher Henry Gayle @henrygayle, the Universe Boss," Vijay Mallya wrote in his tweet, which has gone viral. "Super friendship since I recruited him for RCB. Best acquisition of a player ever," he tweeted.

The tweet immediately went viral and has garnered over 34k likes so far.

Notably, Chris Gayle was part of Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2011 to 2017 and played some memorable innings for the franchise in the tournament.

The aggressive opener dominated IPL during his association with RCB, scoring 3420 runs in 91 games at a strike rate of 154.40, including 21 half-centuries and 5 centuries. His record-breaking unbeaten 175 came in RCB colours.

After parting ways with the Bangalore franchise in 2017, Gayle was picked by Punjab Kings. He did not make himself available for the mega auction ahead of IPL 2022. However, Gayle is likely to be back in IPL 2023.
