2. Alex Hales
Hales came into this tournament as a replacement for Jonny
Bairstow and proved his mettle in the tournament. Just like Buttler, he did not
deliver his best against Ireland and Afghanistan with knocks of 19 and 7
respectively. However, the half-century against the Kiwi attack brought his
confidence back in his abilities.
He then came up with an innings of 47 against the Lankan
side to pave way for England to reach the semi-finals. In the penultimate clash
against India, Hales unleashed his best to slam 86* off 47 balls. With a
contribution of 1 in the final, Hales finished the tournament with 212 runs in
six games.
