BGMI is back and is continuing on its quest to further the development of esports in India. BGMI creator KRAFTON on Friday July 14, revealed the 2023 BGIS teaser. While no official date was provided, it is generally expected to be after July.

Prior to the BGIS, the scrim round will take place on July 17. The official scrims, called BGIS THE GRIND, will follow a similar structure to Season 1 edition of the same. The overall format for BGIS Season 2 is likely to follow that of one, though as of yet that has not been officially confirmed.

The teaser shared on Instagram shows a figure in front of an array of monitors with the slogan ‘Rise Up’ sprawled across it. The post was made by Krafton India and features the tag, “Gear up for the esports revolution that will leave you at the edge of your seat 🍿 The battlegrounds are about to witness a fierce battle like never before.”

What is the likely format?

BGIS Season 2 is likely to follow Season 1’s format. Players will have to qualify through In-Game Qualifiers and will try to compete round by round. It is a great opportunity for lesser-known players and teams to make their mark in the Indian esports scene.

In-game Qualifiers - Top 1024 teams advance to the online qualifiers.

Online Qualifiers - 1024 Teams
Quarter Finals - 64 Teams
Semi Finals - 24 Teams
Grand Finals - 16 Teams

The Season 1 was a commercial success and gave India a spot at the PUBG Mobile World Championships that year. This year the PMGC will have three special invites available, and India is likely to get an invitation based on the second season of BGIS.

Season 1 was won by Team Skylight Gaming, with TSM and XO taking the second and third place respectively. Neyoo from Team Godlike won the MVP award.
