The Grind is a pre-Battlegrounds India Series exhibition game that is officially sanctioned and has a prize pool for invited teams. The invited teams are divided into several groups and will compete for the cash prizes. This season, in addition to BGMI Tier 1 teams, underdog teams that performed well in the BGIS 2021 and proceeded to rounds 2, 3, and 4 were also invited to The Grind.
256 teams in total have been invited to the Grind competition. A select group of Tier 1 teams, including Team Soul, Godlike, OR Esports, and others, received invitations to BGIS 2023 The Grind.
Format for The Grind is as follows:
Eight groups of eight teams each are formed from the 64 participating teams. During The Grind Finals, every team will play a minimum of one game per day and a maximum of three games per day. T he last 32 teams will compete in Round 2 of BGIS 2023, while the top 32 teams from The Grind Finals will advance to Round 3. Beginning on August 17 and continuing through August 20, 2023, are the Grind Finals.
On Sunday, the 64 teams from eight Groups will compete in seven round-robin matches.
