Team India registered comprehensive five-wicket win over Pakistan on Sunday evening courtesy to dominating performances from the Indian cricketers in both the innings. While couple of Indian players delivered outstanding performances in a high-voltage clash, few failed to perform up to their reputation in the mega-encounter.
While, Virat Kohli produced a noteworthy knock of 35-runs including one six and three boundaries, skipper Rohit Sharma and vice-captain KL Rahul failed to contribute. In response to Pakistan's 147, Team India suffered early blow in the form of KL Rahul who got out on a duck. Rahul's dismissal put the onus on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and the duo stitched crucial 49-run stand for the second wicket before Indian skipper was dismissed off Md. Nawaz in the 7.6 overs. Rohit Sharma could only add 12-runs off 18 deliveries.
Post-match, a renowned Pakistan's sports journalist Arfa Feroz Zake compared Indian skipper with a club cricketer and claimed that the prolific batter is a 'total waste for India' when it comes to playing against Pakistan. However, Arfa's unrealistic comparison didn't go down well with the Pakistan fans who were quick to school the journalist for doing hate-mongering and reminded him of Rohit's class as a batter.
Despite being schooled by the Pakistan fans, Arfa posted another tweet where he claimed that Team India won by the luck and Pakistan played better cricket. "India would have never won the match if luck had not favored them," read his tweet. However, he was once again slammed by the cricket fans of his own country.
Speaking of the match, Mohammad Nawaz and debutant Naseem Sha who picked three and two wickets in the second innings gave a decent fightback but India's middle-order batted brilliantly to ensure comfortable victory over Pakistan. Team India will next lock horns with Hong Kong on August 31 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
