India's Bhuvneshwar Kumar has earned a nomination for the ICC Player of the Month for March 2021. During that month, the veteran pacer not only made a comeback after being out of action for several months owing to injury but put up an impressive show in the white-ball leg of the India-England series. The ICC announced the set of nominations on Thursday. Other than Bhuvi, leg-spinner Rashid Khan, Zimbabwe's Sean Williams were also nominated from Men's ICC Player of the Month.

India also earned two more nominations which came from women's cricket. The nominees for women's category are India’s Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Punam Raut along with South Africa's Lizelle Lee. While Gaikwad was the leading wicket-taker for India in both the ODI and T20I series against South Africa, Raut was India's top run-scorer in the ODI series.

Surprised Bhuvi isn't the Man of the Series: Kohli

At the conclusion of the three-match ODI series against England in Pune, captain Virat Kohli had expressed surprise on Bhuvi not getting the Man of the Series recognition. The star bowler took 6 wickets at an economy of 4.65 in a series dominated by batsmen. Prior to the ODIs, the 31-year-old had also scalped 4 wickets with a superb economy of 6.38 in the five T20Is.

Currently, Bhuvneshwar is part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad and will be back to spearheading their pace attack in IPL 2021.
