After a brief pause, international cricket is set to get up and going from Sunday as the first match of the Bangladesh and Sri Lanka ODI series is scheduled to be played today. However, the Sri Lanka team received a big blow ahead of the first game which might force the boards to postpone the game.

Chaminda Vaas, Isuru Udana and Shiran Fernando test positive: Reports

According to reports, players Isuru Udana and Shiran Fernando and bowling coach Chaminda Vaas have tested positive for COVID-19. Regular testing was done ahead of the match and tests of the 3 members returned positive. The team is reportedly awaiting results of the second PCR test.

First ODI to get postponed?

The news has put the 3-match ODI series between the two Asian teams in serious jeopardy. Earlier, the cases of COVID-19 inside the bio-bubble had forced the BCCI to suspend IPL 2021 midway. An official statement from Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) is yet to be released.
