Two Big Bash League (BBL) franchises in Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Thunder have been dealt with major blow. Hobart Huricanes lose Billy Stanlake; Sydney Thunder see Daniel Sams getting ruled out

During table-topper, Hobart Hurricanes’ match against Melbourne Renegades, Stanlake injured his right shoulder while diving for a catch. Although he completed the catch, he landed wrongly on his bowling shoulder, leaving him in visible pain. Furthermore the scans confirmed a fracture in his right scapula, ruling him out for the remaining season.

On the other hand, Daniel Sams was forced to serve a 12-day concussion protocol after collision with Cameron Bancroft, but he also faced side strain, ruling him out of the 2024-25 season. "I just want to express my gratitude and thanks to everyone who has supported me throughout my recovery. The messages of encouragement and care have meant so much to me during this time,” Daniel Sams said, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

"I'm super disappointed not to be out there on the field, contributing to the success the boys are having and being part of the push for the title. But I'm incredibly proud of this group and excited to see what they can achieve for the rest of the season,” he added. While the Hurricanes are placed at the top of the points table with 13 points, Sydney Thunder are just below them with 11 points from nine games.
