The Indian tennis icon, Rohan Bopanna has reached his first-ever Australian Open men's doubles final after winning his first game as the World No.1 in the AO24 semifinal against the unseeded duo of Zhang Zhizhen and Tomas Machac. Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden have reached their second consecutive men's doubles final after losing the Adelaide Open final against Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury on January 13.
The World No.2 pair of Bopanna and Ebden entered the Grand Slam as the third-seeded side and reached the final after beating Zhang Zhizhen and Tomas Machac 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (10-7) in the semifinal under the closed roof at the Rod Laver Arena.
The duo of Bopanna and Ebden are now scheduled to face the Italian pair of Andrea Vavassori and Sim one Bolelli on January 26, from 06:30 a.m. IST.
