The IPL, which achieved a decacorn status, has the combined overall brand value that lies more than USD 10 billion. The IPL brand value has seen a remarkable increase of 28% from $8.4 billion in 2022, as the current value stands at $10.7 billion.

A report from brand valuation consultancy states that the IPL's total brand value has skyrocketed by 433% since the inaugural season which happened in 2008. The exceptional growth of this league in the last two seasons has been due to several factors like huge media rights deal, the addition of two new franchises and the presence of crowd in the stadium being some of them.

Here, in this article we will have a look at brand values of all ten franchises:

  • Mumbai Indians - $87 million (INR 725 Crore)
  • Chennai Super Kings - $81 million (INR 675 Crore)
  • Kolkata Knight Riders - $78.6 million (INR 657 Crore)
  • Royal Challengers Bangalore - $69.8 million (INR 582 Crore)
  • Gujarat Titans - $65.4 million (INR 555 Crore)
  • Delhi Capitals - $64.1 million (INR 534 Crore)
  • Rajasthan Royals - $62.5 million (INR 521 Crore)
  • Sunrisers Hyderabad - $48.2 million (INR 401.6 Crore)
  • Lucknow Super Giants - $47 million (INR 391.6 Crore)
  • Punjab Kings - $45.3 million (INR 377.5 Crore)

If we look at the above numbers, it's pretty clear that most successful franchises like MI, CSK, KKR have taken the top-3 spot in brand values. Notably, all three of these franchises have won most titles when compared to all other teams in the IPL history.

Royal Challengers Bangalore despite having a loyal fanbase and having Virat Kohli's face value, has managed to stand at fourth position. RCB not winning an IPL title in 16 editions have hurt them a lot over the years.

2022 IPL champions and 2023 runners-up, Gujarat Titans in a short span of time have achieved fifth position in terms of the IPL brand value. From eight position in 2022, they saw a huge increase of 38% in their brand value due to their consistent run in the tournament.

Lucknow Super Giants also have seen a huge increase in their brand value to emerge as the fastest growing franchise in IPL despite starting at a very low base price.

IPL franchises like Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi have expanded their wings, participating in WPL and other T20 leagues too.

Punjab Kings has been the biggest disappointment in IPL history as they reached playoffs only twice despite featuring in all 16 editions.
