The Brooklyn Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers will play the league's third regular-season game in Paris at the Accor Arena on Thursday, January 11, 2024, according to a statement from the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Nets previously played a pre-season game in Paris in 2008, making the NBA Paris Game 2024 their second appearance there.
It will be the Cavaliers' first game in the European continent. Donovan Mitchell, a four-time NBA All-Star, Jarrett Allen, Darius Garland, and Evan Mobley, who was named to the 2022–23 Kia NBA All-Defensive First Team, are all now playing for Cleveland. The Cavaliers made four straight NBA Finals appearances from 2015 to 2018, and they won their first NBA championship in 2016.
The NBA and its partners will hold interactive fan events, NBA Cares community outreach programs, and Jr. NBA youth basketball development programming in addition to the NBA Paris Game 2024 to give fans in the French capital a taste of the NBA.
NBA Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer Mark Tatum said in a release, “We’re thrilled to be bringing the live NBA experience back to Paris with two exciting teams in the Brooklyn Nets and the Cleveland Cavaliers. This game has become a destination for our passionate fans across Europe and will build on the incredible momentum around basketball and the NBA in France and throughout the region.”
A number of marketing partners, including Foot Locker, La Française des Jeux, Nike, and Tissot, will sponsor the game and related events. The upcoming months will see the announcement of additional partners. A later date will be announced for the sale of tickets for The NBA Paris Game 2024. France has produced more NBA players than any other non-North American nation, including San Antonio Spurs No. 1 overall draft pick Victor Wembanyama.
