Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar has praised star pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s performance in the third Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, played at the iconic Lord’s. Bumrah, after missing the second Test in Birmingham, did a magnificent job as a premier bowler. In the first innings, he picked up a fifer and played a vital role in containing England to 387 in the first innings. The 31-year-old looked decent with the ball in the second innings as well, picking up the scalps of Brydon Carse and Chris Woakes. However, his performance went in vain as India lost the game by 22 runs on the final day of the Test.

Noting Bumrah’s majestic bowling show, Manjrekar commended Bumrah’s composure to pick up wickets in the first innings. Appearing on ‘Follow the Blues', JioStar expert Manjrekar said, “In the first innings, Bumrah showed just how great a bowler he is. This was the kind of pitch where he could not really display his full range, so he bowled patiently and waited for opportunities. And when the moment came -- in the latter half of the innings -- he was ready. He picked up five wickets in the first innings on a surface that did not offer much assistance."

Will India go without Jasprit Bumrah in the fourth Test?

After the loss in the third Test, India will have to win the fourth match in Manchester, starting from July 23. It will be a do-or-die contest for the visitors as a loss in this game will end their chances of winning a Test series on English soil.

Noting this circumstance, it will be interesting to witness whether Bumrah will feature in India’s playing XI in the next Test. If Team India management continues with the workload policy linked to Bumrah, the pacer might be rested and the side could miss his services at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground. After the loss in the third Test, skipper Shubman Gill remained coy on his availability for the upcoming game.
