Williams Kokolo, the Burton Albion footballer in the English League One, has gone on trial, accused of three counts of rape on June 12, Monday at Coventry Crown Court. The 23-year-old had allegedly raped a university student after being invited by her to a party at the residence hall in Birmingham on February 13 last year. The former youth footballer at Monaco has denied the three counts of rape levelled at him.
The French-born professional had met the 24-year-old girl on a dating website initially. Shortly afterward, they started messaging each other on Snapchat as she wanted to know the footballer. But on that fateful night in her residence hall room, in February 2022, after a party, the university student was raped by Williams Kokolo, who was apparently in his boxer shorts after she returned from the bathroom, as told to the jurors, according to The Sun.
He allegedly forced her to perform oral sex on him before having sexual intercourse, which prompted the university student to plead with him to stop. Furthermore, it was also alleged that Williams Kokolo picked up a small pillow and forced it into her mouth while telling her to "shush".
When the former Middlesbrough and Sunderland footballer saw her sitting with her head in her hands afterward, he was quoted as saying to her, “What’s wrong baby girl?” The university student contacted the police about her ordeal after Williams Kokolo left her room in the residence hall. She had also contacted her ex-boyfriend about what had happened to her immediately afterward.
According to her interview with the local police cops, she told them about how he treated her like a piece of garbage to get what he wanted. A recording was played to the court, where the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told cops, "I asked him to come to the party so we could get to know each other. I told him I didn't want to do anything sexual and he said that was fine."
