Mumbai Indians despite winning seven out of thirteen games in IPL 2023, haven't confirmed their spot in playoffs with 14 points in their kitty. MI's five-run loss against LSG in their recent game has put them in the danger zone to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2023.
Now, the question for all fans is, can MI get eliminated as they haven't officially qualified for the playoffs in IPL 2023?
Here we will see how they can get eliminated if they stay at only 14 points.
MI remaining schedule of IPL 2023:
vs SRH in Mumbai, 21st May
Now, if MI loses their last league game of IPL 2023 against SRH then they would stay at 14 points only.
GT, CSK & LSG already stay ahead of MI in the points table by having more than 14 points. thus, the only option for MI to qualify after a loss against SRH will be to occupy the fourth spot only in the points table.
Now, if we see
- RCB can reach 16 points if they win their remaining two games
- PBKS can reach 16 points if they win their remaining two games
- RR can reach 14 points if they beat PBKS and they have a much better NRR than MI.
So, even if one of the above happens then MI can be eliminated after a loss against SRH.
Now, if MI beats SRH then they stand at 16 points.
MI can be eliminated even after reaching 16 points if RCB and PBKS win their remaining games and reach 16 points.
But, NRR (MI) > NRR (PBKS) so if MI wins their last game then MI is likely to have an advantage, but if MI loses then RCB, PBKS, and RR will have an advantage over MI.
