Sri Lanka's disappointing campaign in ODI World Cup 2023 comes to an end after a huge five-wicket loss to New Zealand. They went on to lose their final game in this tournament with 160 balls to be spared which also meant their NRR took a huge hit and slipped to ninth position in the points table.

Here, in this article, we will see if Sri Lanka can still qualify for the Champions Trophy 2025 (or) not.

For Sri Lanka to qualify for the Champions Trophy, Sri Lanka should ensure at least two more teams end below them in the points table of the 2023 World Cup. Now that Sri Lanka has played all their games, they must hope other teams perform poorly and go below Sri Lanka.

- The Netherlands already stand in 10th position in the points table, hence, they should lose their last match against India and stay below Sri Lanka in the table.

- Both England and Bangladesh have a better net run rate than Sri Lanka in ODI World Cup 2023 points table. Among those two teams, at least one side should end up having a lesser NRR than Sri Lanka.

For Bangladesh to slip below Sri Lanka in the Points Table:

- Bangladesh should lose their final match against Australia by a margin of around 172 runs if they bowl first, Bangladesh should lose their final match against Australia by a margin of around 28 overs to spare.

For example:

If Australia bat first and scores 400 runs then Bangladesh should be bundled out for just 228 runs

If Australia bat first and scores 350 runs then Bangladesh should be bundled out for just 177 runs

If Australia bat first and scores 300 runs then Bangladesh should be bundled out for just 126 runs

If Bangladesh bat first and posts 200 runs then Australia should chase that total within 21.1 overs

If Bangladesh bat first and posts 240 runs then Australia should chase that total within 21.4 overs

For England to slip below Sri Lanka in the Points Table:

- England should lose their final match against Pakistan by a huge margin of around 245-250 runs if they bowl first, else, England should lose their final match against Pakistan by a margin of around 40 overs to be spared.

For example:

If Pakistan bat first and scores 400 runs then England should be bundled out for just 156 runs

If Pakistan bat first and scores 350 runs then England should be bundled out for just 102 runs

If England bat first and post 160 runs then Pakistan should chase that total inside 9.3 overs.
