Mexican professional boxer Canelo Alvarez lashed out at Lionel Messi after his victory celebration in Argentina’s dressing room went viral. After facing a loss to Saudi Arabia, Argentina secured a 2-0 victory over Mexico in their second league match on Saturday.

After the win helped them to stay alive in the tournament, Messi along with Argentina players celebrated in the dressing room. However, mid-way through the celebrations, Messi tried to take off his shoe, but unfortunately kicked the Mexico Jersey, which was lying on the floor.

As per multiple reports, the 35-year-old got hold of the jersey from a Mexican player following the completion of the fixture. Since the video took rounds on Twitter, it has received varied reactions from the football fraternity.

  Taking notice of Messi disrespecting the Mexico jersey, Alvarez threatened Messi and asked the footballer to pray that he doesn’t come in front of him in the future.

"Did you see Messi cleaning the floor with our shirt and flag???? Let him ask God that he doesn’t find it for me.”

Further, the boxer thinks that Messi has to be respectful towards Mexico. Alvarez added that he has nothing against Argentina, but blamed the star footballer for his deed.

“Just like I respect Argentina, he has to respect Mexico! I’m not talking about the country as a whole, just about the bulls**t that Messi did.”

Coming back to the game, Messi and Enzo Fernandez were the goal-scorers for Argentina against Mexico. Currently, they are placed at the second spot in the Group C table. In their must-win last league game, Argentina will face Poland on December 1 (12:30 AM IST).
