On Saturday, January 11, Cricket West Indies announced the dates for the 13 th  edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The T20 tournament, which has been running from 12 seasons so far, will be played in August - September this year, thus maintaining its uninterrupted schedule with West Indies cricket team’s international fixtures.

The 2025 edition will kickstart from August 14 with the final scheduled to take place on September 21. Speaking further about the tournament, like its previous editions, the 2025 season will also feature 30 league stage matches, involving six teams, namely St Lucia Kings, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Barbados Royals, Trinbago Knight Riders, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons.

CPL 2025 to be played from August 14 to September 21

Apart from the 30 league stage matches, it will also host four playoff games including the eliminator, two qualifiers and the final. The CEO of the Republic Bank CPL, Pete Russell expressed excitement on the announcement, stating, “We are pleased to have once again worked with Cricket West Indies to find a window that allows the very best players from across the region to take part in the CPL. The 2024 season was our most successful to date and we are looking forward to building on that success in 2025.”   

Lynford Inverary, Cricket West Indies acting CEO and COO also said, “We are delighted to confirm the 2025 CPL window. While CWI continues to take a leading role in shaping our overall cricket calendar, the CPL remains a key part of our cricketing ecosystem, playing an important role in the development and promotion of the game throughout the Caribbean. Our collaboration with CPL ensures that the best talent will be on display while avoiding any conflicts with international cricket.”

However, the fixtures, venues and the team rosters will be announced later in the year, like always, the opening match will see the defending champions St Lucia Kings kickstart the proceedings. Moreover, as confirmed earlier, Guyana will host this edition’s finale, whereas Barbados will host first-ever CPL finale in 2026.
