India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss in the first T20I against South Africa and decided to bowl first. With neither Bhuvneshwar Kumar nor Jasprit Bumrah in the playing XI, an ordinary start was expected from India. But what transpired was the exact opposite of that. Not only India started well but also, sent back five South African batters back to the pavilion within two-and-a-half overs.

India have no one to thank but Deepak Chahar and Arshdeep Singh who completely destroyed South Africa’s top order as the pacers put on an exhibition of swing bowling at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. It all started with Chahar knocking down the opposition captain with a beautiful inswinger on the last ball of the first over. Arshdeep Singh joined the party as he got Quiton de Kock on the second ball of the second over.

Singh did not stop there. He shortly got rid of Rilee Rossouw as the left-arm quick got the southpaw caught behind with an outswinger. Singh followed this wicket with another massive blow as he cleaned up David Miller with an absolute jaffa. While South Africa were still recovering from these four blows, Tristan Stubbs threw his bat at an away-going delivery to see it getting grabbed by Arshdeep Singh at the third man.

With Singh and Chahar providing almost a dream start, fans were left stunned at their bowling skills. They heaped praise in unison at the duo and hailed both pacers for their game awareness. Meanwhile, a few criticized South Africa’s batting lineup for their shambolic display.
