A change in venue for the last two T20Is between India and West Indies is on the cards as Cricket West Indies is yet to arrange visas for most of the players from both teams. The last two T20Is are scheduled to be held in Florida on August 6 and 7, but the host board has not yet received the visas for most players. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has intervened in the matter but in the case of no visa, CWI can host the last two T20Is in the Caribbean itself.

According to a recent report, Cricket West Indies, the host board was supposed to arrange visas to the US for both team players but the board is facing problems in obtaining them. It has been learned that members of both sides have not received their US visas so far and a Plan B is being put in place. Meanwhile, the BCCI is trying to help CWI through the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Some already have visas for the US. But some haven’t yet got their visas. We are in touch with both Cricket West Indies and also trying through our Ministry of Foreign Affairs to get things going. But at this moment, this is how things stand. Since CWI are the hosts, they are free to make changes to the existing schedule,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

Options being explored: Ricky Skerrit

With players struggling to get the travel documents for the US, CWI is exploring options. Central Broward Park, Lauderhill, Florida in the US, has been allotted the August 6 and 7 games of the ongoing five-match series. But in case CWI fails to arrange the required documents, the last two T20Is will be hosted in the Caribbean islands. "Having the games in the Caribbean is not unlikely but efforts are being made to resolve the visa issue," Cricbuzz quotes a CWI official.

The initial information was that the players would be handed the US travel documents in St Kitts where the teams have arrived. But there's a chance that the players may have to travel back to Trinidad for the visa documents and from there to the US if they obtain the all-clear. Meanwhile, the CWI President has said that they are exploring possible options if the games are to be held in the Caribbean. "There are options being explored while we continue to pursue the possibilities of receiving the outstanding visas," said Ricky Skerritt.
