India defeated Bangladesh by five runs (DLS method) in a rain-curtailed match on Wednesday (November). The Rohit Sharma-led team batted first and posted 184/6 in their 20 overs. Virat Kohli (64*) and KL Rahul (50) scored half-centuries while Suryakumar Yadav scored a brisk 30 off just 16 balls. R Ashwin also chipped in with a handy 13* (6).

Meanwhile, Bangladesh started the chase brilliantly as they scored 60 runs off the first six overs without losing any wickets. Litton Das was scoring boundaries and maximums for fun as he reached his half-century in just 21 balls. However, rain interrupted the play and it was halted for quite a while. The match resumed with the revised target.

Bangladesh now needed to score 151 runs in 16 overs. India pulled up their socks in the second half and took wickets at regular intervals. A brilliant throw from KL Rahul opened the floodgates for Bangladesh as Litton Das was dismissed. Bangladesh then kept losing wickets at regular intervals eventually falling short of the target by six runs, handing India a five-run victory.

After the game, Bangladesh’s vice-captain Nurul Hasan claimed that they were not awarded five penalty runs which they should have gotten for a fake fielding from Virat Kohli. As ESPNCrininfo carried a report in the same regard, Twitter erupted with reactions. Bangladesh fans started accusing India of cheating and in no time, #Cheating was trending on the micro-blogging platform.
