After sacking Thomas Tuchel and appointing Graham Potter as their new head coach, Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has reportedly initiated a deal with Salzburg for their sporting director Christoph Freund.
Freund is the one who unearthed top talents like Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, Senegalese Sadio Mané, Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita, and French defender Dayot Upamecano.
Recently, Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano took to his official Twitter handle and stated a deal is expected to be agreed shortly between Premier League club Chelsea and Christoph Freund for the role of sporting director. Romano wrote, " Chelsea are now set to reach agreement on personal terms with Christoph Freund as new director. Talks on with Salzburg to get it signed soon "
Earlier Freund hinted towards a possible Chelsea move after the UCL 2022-23 group stage fixture between Chelsea and Salzburg on Wednesday. Christoph Freund said, “You should never rule anything out in football and Chelsea are such a huge club. Chelsea is such a huge club in transition. I can’t say exactly what will happen in the next few weeks and months. But I’m sports director at Salzburg and I really enjoy it.”
