Ross Barkley has parted ways with Chelsea by mutual consent, thus becoming a free agent. The midfielder, who joined from boyhood club Everton in January 2018, has made 100 appearances for the Blues in all competitions while scoring 12 goals. Barkley’s most memorable moment was his injury-time equaliser against Manchester United in his first full season at the Bridge.

At the end of that season, he was part of the Europa League winning squad as he scored a spot-kick in the shoot-out victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the semis and then scored coming off the bench in the brilliant triumph against Arsenal.

At 28, the Englishman is in the prime of his career but is nowhere close to playing for the Blues. Thomas Tuchel has not featured him this season, and hence the club has decided to release Barkley from his £200,000-a-week contract.

Talking about Chelsea, the London-based club has been looking for new transfers as expressed by Thomas Tuchel in a recent press conference. "Right now we could need more players in some positions but it's close to the end of the transfer window and when Sept. 1 comes I will be a happy coach no matter what happens," Tuchel said. "I will try to find solutions and not think about what could have happened."

Tuchel further talked about how the team is facing a midfield crisis are they don’t have their key midfielders because of injuries. He said, “It's the area where normally I would love to have a headache who plays and who is on the bench. I thought we could have five players who could all play for us, and have on top Carney as an option as a young player.

“The headache before the season was ‘do we have too many players there?’. It comes to the fifth game and we have only two left with experience in this position and Kova from the bench. At the moment he’s not ready to play full matches at Premier League level. He has only had one week of training after his injury.”
