On Sunday, December 8, Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer made Premier League history by becoming the first player to score 12 penalties without missing in the competition, breaking Yaya Toure’s long-standing record of 11. During the game against Tottenham in the Premier League, Cole Palmer was heckled by the home fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium while taking a corner, but afterwards, he epically trolled them back by posing with the POTM award beside their logo.

Notably, during the high octane Premier League contest, Cole Palmer scored twice from the penalty spot, to help Chelsea make a resounding comeback from two goals down, to win the contest 4-3, and get within four points of Liverpool at first place in the league standings. After Tottenham went up by two goals within 11 minutes through Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski, it was Jadon Sancho, who opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 17th minute.

From that point onwards, the Cole Palmer show began as he scored two penalties in 61st minute and the 84th minute, with the second one being a delicious Panenka, while he also set up Enzo Fernandez’s in the 73rd minute, which provided Chelsea the decisive lead over Tottenham. Son Heung-min scored a consolation goal for his team in the second half added time, but it wasn’t enough as Chelsea walked away with all three points from the Premier League contest.

After the big win, Enzo Maresca, the manager of Chelsea, remarked that his team is ahead of what he expected out of them at this stage of the Premier League season in terms of how they play on and off the ball, along with the results produced thus far. He also played down the title aspirations of Chelsea in a hilarious manner, and said, as per the BBC Sport, “Arsenal, [Manchester] City and Liverpool probably don't slide - like Cucurella did,” which had cost them one of the goals against Tottenham during their recent Premier League contest.

Chelsea are slated to play Astana at the Pavlodar Central Stadium in Kazakhstan next in the UEFA Europa Conference League 2024-25 season on Thursday, December 12.
