Hardik Pandya on Monday posted a heartfelt tweet to wish a speedy recovery for the pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who is struggling due to a back injury. The tweet came as a reaction to the BCCI officially affirming Bumrah getting ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022. The apex board arrived at the decision, based on the assessments and consultation with the specialists.

Earlier, the 28-year-old complained of back pain ahead of the first game of the T20I series against South Africa in Thiruvananthapuram. Then, the pacer underwent a scan, which certainly saw the aggravating injury concern, which ruled him out of the series. Mohammed Siraj was named as his replacement for the remaining two T20Is. However, Bumrah’s replacement for the showpiece event will be announced by the board in due course of time. The likes of Deepak Chahar and Mohammed Shami, who are the reserve players in the squad are the potential replacements for him.

Meanwhile, Pandya has been rested in the Proteas series to manage his workload ahead of the T20 WC. He slammed 105 runs in three innings, including a knock of 25* off 15 in the last game to seal the T20I series win against Australia last month. Left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed replaced him in the squad for the ongoing series.

Since his international comeback in June, Pandya has been one of the consistent performers for the Indian side. Furthermore, his usefulness with the bat also provides the Men in Blue with a fine balance leading up to the WC. In the last edition of the tournament, Pandya featured solely as a batter, due to his injury concerns, resulting in Team India playing with an extra bowler.
