The Indian contingent are at the fifth spot in the Commonwealth Games 2022 medals tally as India won six medals in wrestling events it participated at the Birmingham Games on Saturday. By the end of the Day 9 of CWG 2022, India managed to get 12 gold, 11 silver and 14 bronze medals.

The penultimate day of the CWG 2022 featured Indian women's final T20 match against Australia, Boxing events of Amit Panghal, Nikhat Zareen among others and some athletics events. India have a great chance to better its position in the medals tally and overtake New Zealand on the fourth place.

Athletics & Para Athletics:

Indian athletes Eldhose Paul and Abdulla Aboobacker secured top two podium finishes in men’s Triple Jump Final while Praveen Chitravel clinched the fourth position in the event.

Haryana-based athlete Sandeep Kumar won a bronze medal in the men’s 10,000m Race Walk Final as he clocked personal best of 38:49.21 minutes while another Indian athlete in the fray, Amit Khatri finished at the ninth spot.

Annu Rani won bronze medal for India in women’s Javelin Throw Final with a 60 metres throw while Shilpa Rani (54.62) finished at the seventh place.

The Indian team of Dutee Chand, Hima Das, Srabani Nanda & Jyothi Yarraji finished at the fifth spot in women’s 4 x 100m Relay Final.


PV Sindhu beat Singapore's Yeo Jia Min in Women's Singles Badminton semifinal to play for the gold medal on the last day of CWG 2022.

Lakshya Sen moves into the men’s badminton singles final after defeating Singapore’s Jason Teh 21-10, 18-21, 21-16. While Kidambi Srikanth lost to Tze Yong NG of Malaysia. He will be playing bronze medal match later on Sunday.

India's Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty enter the badminton men's doubles final with 21-6, 21-15 win over Peng Soon Chan and Kian Meng Tan of Malaysia.


The 21-year-old Indian boxer Nitu Ghanghas defeated England's Demie-Jade Resztan to win gold in the women’s 48kg Final. Similarly, Amit Panghal thrashed England's Kiaran Macdonald 5-0 to clinch the gold medal in the men's 51 kg boxing final.

Nikhat Zareen beat Ireland's Carly McNaul in the women’s 50kg Boxing Final to win her first CWG gold medal.


Indian women’s hockey team won Bronze Medal Match after defeating New Zealand in the penalty shootout at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

Table Tennis and Para Table Tennis:

Sreeja Akula went down to Australia's Yangzi Liu 3-4 in the women's Table Tennis singles bronze medal play-off. The Indian pair of Achanta Sharath Kamal and G Sathiyan lost 2-1 to England's Paul Drinkhall and Liam Pitchford to settle for silver medal.

Indian ace Sharath Kamal Achanta qualified for men's singles final in Table tennis after defeating Paul Drinkhall of England 4-2. However, G Sathiyan lost to Liam Pitchford in the men's singles table tennis semi-final on Saturday.


The Indian pair of Dipika Pallikal and Saurav Ghosal knocked out Australia's Donna Lobban and Cameron Pilley to win bronze medal in the mixed doubles squash event at the CWG 2022.
