After an action-packed 9 days of the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, the quadrennial event is now heading towards its climax. With two more days remaining at the event, will India manage to beat its best-ever performance in the games? Will there be few surprises or will it be the same old faces on the podium?

As one ponders the answers to the abovementioned questions, here is a medal and result prediction from the penultimate day of the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.

1. Nikhat Zareen to win a gold medal

Nikhat Zareen is a favourite to win the gold medal from India. She is the reigning world champion and given her form and reputation she would have her eyes set on the first prize in the light flyweight women's boxing category.

2. India to get a medal in women's hockey

While India controversially lost to Australia in the semifinals, given the kind of hockey they have played in the competition so far, they should be able to bag the bronze medal by beating New Zealand. However, they would have to keep what happened in the match against Australia behind them to play their best brand of the sport.

3. Annu Rani to finish on the podium

With Neeraj Chopra having to miss out due to injury, all responsibility will rest on India's Annu Rani to bring India a medal in the sport. Even though her recent form hasn't been close to her best, if she manages to register anywhere close to her personal best, that should keep her in the medal hunt for sure.

4. Anderson Peters to win gold in absence of Neeraj Chopra

And one man's loss in another man's gain. With Neeraj pulling out due to an injury, it is his rival Anderson Peters who has become the favourites by a mile to win the gold medal in the sport. It was Anderson who had won the gold in the World Athletics Championships but his Indian rival who bagged the silver in this event will not be around in Birmingham, making his task a lot easier.
