It was a successful day for the Indian contingent with success in three different events of the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022. The Indian women’s Fours team secured a historic gold medal with their dominating performances. On the other hand, weightlifter Vikas Thakur clinched silver at CWG, and Table Tennis Men’s retained their title.

Long Jump

Murali Sreeshankar and Muhammed Anees Yahiya qualified for the final round. Sreeshankar’s 8.05m jump was the highest among qualifiers, while Yahiya finished eighth with a 7.68m jump.

Swimming

Srihari Nataraj

Srihari Nataraj finished 9th in the 200m backstroke heat event.

Lawn Bowls

Indian team clinched a gold medal in the Women's Fours by beating South Africa 17-10.

Mridul Borgohain lost 8-21 to Shannon McIlroy of New Zealand in the Men's Singles Section D (Round 1).

India lost 11-24 to England in the Women's Triples Section C (Round 2).

India beat Fiji 14-11 in the Men's Fours Section C (Round 1).

Weightlifting

Punam Yadav finished last in the 76 kg category.

Vikas Thakur secured a silver medal in the Men's 96kg Final, after lifting a total of 346 kg.

Athletics

Women’s Shot-put: Manpreet Kaur qualified for the final with a throw of 16.78m.

Dutee Chand failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the Women's 100m Round 1 (Heat 5) after finishing in fourth place with a timing of 11.55 seconds. The top three sprinters from each heat are qualified for the semis.

India women’s team lost 1-3 to England

Table Tennis

The men’s team clinched a gold medal by beating Singapore 3-1.

Squash

Women's Singles Plate Semi-Final: Sunayna Sara Kuruvilla beat Faiza Zafar of Pakistan 11-2, 11-4, 11-5.

Men's Singles Semi-Final: Saurav Ghosal lost 9-11, 4-11, 1-11 to Paul Coll of New Zealand. He will feature in the bronze medal match.
